Mission of the Game

PolyCultural Weekend is designed to acquaint prospective students to the Cal Poly University by exploring academic, cultural, and social resources of the institution. PolyCultural Weekend aims to establish a sense of community, a sense of belonging, and provides students with the skills to succeed at Cal Poly, even though it is a different environment.

Every year the OCOB Multicultural Business Program (MBP) interns look forward to hosting Poly Cultural Weekend. We look forward to the interaction that we will have with the students as well as how we will showcase the great opportunities that we offer within OCOB, especially the MBP program. The MBP programs Mission is to increase the enrollment, retention, and graduation of traditionally underserved, historically underrepresented, and marginalized students in higher education and business. We encourage you to apply to this program so that you can be part of a community that will help you transition to college and throughout your time at Cal Poly. We hope to see YOU Fall 2020!

Why does PCW exist?

In 2004, PolyCultural Weekend (PCW) was created by four Cultural Organizations (AISA, ISA, MEXA, PCE) to showcase the available resources and support offered at Cal Poly for prospective, underrepresented students. The lack of institutional support for students with marginalized identities -- on the basis of factors including, but not limited to, race and ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status -- provided proof of program necessity. As a student-organized event, PolyCultural Weekend is a tool designed to guide prospective students in deciding whether to attend Cal Poly.
